Our History

Eastbridge Heating and Cooling was founded by local KW resident Dan Stavropoulos in 2015.

After earning his OBT2 oil and G2 gas licence from Ottawa’s Algonquin College in 2005, Dan returned to the KW region.

Dan’s HVAC experience was developed through working at local companies in the region installing and servicing furnaces, air conditioners, gas piping and water heaters.  During this time, he completed his residential A/C Apprenticeship and received his 313D license.

Along with servicing furnaces and air conditioners, Dan developed a strong understanding of the gas utility from his time working at the City of Kitchener.  Responsibilities such as gas meter replacements, upgrades and rebuilds were common as well as gas odour and carbon monoxide emergency response.  Being part of emergency response management was an interesting endeavour as each situation was unique.  Recollecting his past experience:

“I remember a time when I had to respond to a gas odor call.  Once on scene I found out that a car had smashed into the gas meter and the house was surrounded by police and fire trucks.  I needed to make sure the gas was contained and not leaking below ground into the house.  You never know what you are going to walk into in those types of situations.”

With over 15 years now working in the trade, Dan has noticed a decline in quality and workmanship from some HVAC professionals.  While working at Kitchener Utilities, a major portion of the job was to inspect recently installed gas equipment.  Increasingly, more inspections were revealing faults with the installation.

”Sometimes a technician simply forgets to hang a pressure test tag, but other times it was things like leaving a gas fitting loose and leaking gas or not gluing joints in venting together. You get to know the good installers from the not so good installers.”

The other thing he noticed was that more and more companies were convincing customers that they needed to replace their furnace every 10 years.  Most modern furnaces should last 15-20 years.

After seeing how more and more companies were moving towards the trend of furnace replacements after 10 years and what he calls “Sales Techs” he decided to start Eastbridge Heating and Cooling.

“Sales Techs -  that’s what I call the service technicians who come into your house to “fix” your equipment but really are just trying to upgrade you to new equipment”.

Dan started his company with Honesty, Integrity and Customer Value as his core principles.

“I know it sounds cliché but it’s true. When I come to your home to service equipment my first priority is to make sure that the equipment is safe. If it is found to be safe then we move on to what’s best for you in your current situation.  We always work with our customers to consider their budget and what repairs are  necessary for each particular situation.”

At Eastbridge Heating and Cooling we truly care about our customers. We try our best to make every customer feel comfortable and confident with their service.

We use quality products, have quality workmanship and truly care about what is best for our customers.
